Poor temperature control over time

I bought the Maytag M1TXEGMYW00 in 2012. I liked the design and sturdy construction. It was my first fridge with an ice maker. It was all great for about 4 years. Then it didn't keep ice cream frozen. When I turned the temperature to a colder setting, things in the refrigerator would freeze -- and the ice cream was still rather soft. In 2017, I finally called a repair service who replaced the "cold control" temperature sensor. This didn't help, and cost me $170. I've put thermometers in the freezer and refrigerator and have found way too much variance in temperatures - the freezer ranges 6-27 degrees while the refrigerator ranges 28-41. Now it's 2019 and I'm shopping for a new refrigerator, being told that all the new ones are junk and "they don't make them like they used to". The ones I'm seeing now have an adjustment in the freezer to change the amount of cold vented into the refrigerator, but there are still so many things that can go wrong. So I'm just hoping to get a new refrigerator that will function properly for 5 years.

I bought this refrigerator because of the Maytag repairman commercials about reliability. Only 3 years old and having problems with it already. Old (different brand fridge is still going strong after 20 years)

I gave this model a 3, because after 2 years of owing it, I had to purchase a 'repair warranty' in the tune of $350 dollars. The compressor was shot!

I just spent $150. to repair this fridge that is only a little over a year old. Even if it had still been under warranty, the warranty would not have covered the service. All of this is very disappointing & I don't think I will be looking at Maytag as I shop for new appliances.

Last January I bought a new Maytag Refrigerator, then in September I sold my house with all new appliances, So on the new house I bought I only wanted Maytag, so I got the refrigerator in white this time. Thank you for the great appliances you make.

I run a small manufacturing operation and we bought this for the employee lunch room to replace an old and very tired fridge. This Maytag is a very nice basic unit that has an icemaker as standard equipment. The icemaker probably gets the most use of all the features and it has shown to be very reliable.This runs quiet and really does a great job. I have been happy with other Maytag appliances that I have purchased over the past few years and this one doesn't disappoint. Lots of off-shore brands have bad reviews making Maytag a far better choice.

bought over a year ago. stays nice and cold with plenty of room. as others have stated the slider for the deli bin keeps coming off and the draw will not stay up....gave up on it and just sat draw on shelf.

Model M1TXEGMYS After about one year rust started to form on the outside of the door. After some Internet research I have learned some manufacturers such as Maytag have reduced the amount of nickel used in the stainless steel. As such rust can be a problem. Magnets indeed stick to my fridge door. With "real" stainless steel, they should not stick. Buyer Beware !! The fridge continues to operate but the finish is ugly.

I bought this 3 years ago and recently it started to freeze the food in the fridge. Then the ice maker wasn't making ice and the freezer started to get warm. Now the freezer is making only 3 ice cubes a day and the fridge is getting warm. Worst purchase ever and I can't get a repair man to fix it for a few weeks so in the mean time I have my food in a cool in the middle of my kitchen. At this point I am very frustrated and after reading some other reviews I don't know if I should buy replacement parts or buy a new fridge since people said theirs died even after replacing parts.

My wife and I found are self short a frig after 21 years of good service our Maytag bit the dust. So naturally we wanted a Maytag to replace it. Purchased a new 21 cu. ft. top Freezer and are very pleased with it. The freezer has no light which I find a disadvantage. The box came with the Maytag label on a tilt...poor Quality control. When I first used the ice maker it did not work. I called the store and they told me to adjust the temperature which is exactly contrary to manufacturers suggestions.

I love my new refrigerator. It has everything that I was looking for; glass shelves, adjustable door shelves that hold items larger than a salad dressing bottle, ice maker, 2 sizes of fresh food drawers rather than 2 of the same size neither of which is large enough for some items, and a fresh meat drawer. Did I mention that I love my new refrigerator!!!

I bought 3 years ago and 4 months ago items began freezing in fridge part. 4 repairs later including replacement of thermostat we have had freezer die (lost $500 worth of meets etc) and fridge side barely works! No mas!

The title says it all. This was the only refrig I could find which was low enough to fit under my kitchen cabinet so I bought it. I should have let more food spoil and done more looking. I have to kneel to see what is in the back of the lower two shelves. I had to get an extra bin so that my wife could pull out some frequently used items. That was not a problem with my previous refrig. Also the fruit and veg keepers are small- this at a time when more people are trying to eat more fruits and vegs.

This Maytag refrigerator is definitely affordable and is energy efficient, but there are two large problems. The first is the shelving. Trying to fit 2 one-gallon milk cartons in the door is a challenge, and you can't put two on the same shelf (shelves are not long enough). The second major problem is the ice maker. When the ice-maker gets full, there's nothing blocking the ice from pouring out of the ice bucket and all over the inside of the freezer! Thus, I end up picking up ice cubes from the bottom shelf and always have to manually shut off the ice-maker by raising the bar on the ice-maker. Poorly designed engineering!

Bought the new refrigerator got it delivered and it did not work. It only has to do one thing- get cold, and it failed. Two visits from a repair man and it works. Don't you test these things before you send them from the factory?

We are really happy with this unit that replaces a 21 year old GEThe door shelves are wider than the old one and that is a big help. Thetemperature is more even all over. It makes a lot more noise when runningthan our old one. Sort of a high pitch whine that I don't like one bit.

Bought Nov. 13, 2014, called warranty service Nov 24, poor or no insulation in face of freezer door. Freezer running warm (+10) with setting on 4stars.Dec 3 serviceman shows up to investigate. After taking several temps, said seem okay until I showed him picture of sweat on front of freezer door on a fairly humid day. Serviceman then said door must be defective and ordered another door, which we are now waiting.The insulation is very important to the energy usage of the refrigerator. The ever present yellow "energy guide" that came with the refrigerator says "estimated yearly operating cost" $44.00. We have probably spent that much already on this refrigerator with its defective poorly insulated freezer door. It will be interesting to see what the report says about the old freezer door when it is changed out. Weather it is poor insulation job or poor door design.

Very impressed w/ this frig/freezer. Almost as much space as my old 22.6 GE side by side. Of course, still miss the ice maker on the outside. But SO glad there is a ice maker. Really happy to find this large unit that fit's a 65 high x 35 wide x 34 deep space. Which I gather 25 yrs ago was rather a common dimension for side by sides. Didn't want to have to tear cabinets out or spend $3000 on a custom.The installers plugged this frig in, set it at the recommended setting, and it's been running quietly ever since. Frig keeps milk at the right temp, freezer everything is frozen nicely. Quiet, don't even know it's on. Runs much less than my old frig ... I think it's saved about $10/mo. in electric but hard to tell with the arctic freeze going on right now.

Bought this 2 months ago. Good size. The ice maker is slow and at times we run out of ice when our kids are home from college at the same time. It also makes strange noises when it's running sometimes. Perfect if you want a basic fridge
