Issues after first 2 years.

We bought this 4 years ago when we built our new home. It worked great at drying, a decent job of cleaning, and was quiet. After 2 years, we noticed a black film developing on the inside of the stainless steel tub. The plumber said it was the dishwasher, and sears dishwasher repairman said it was the water. It ended up being the hose that was used to connect to water- a black hose that apparently deposits black dust. The second issue is the detergent tab started releasing at the wrong time, leaving the tab halfway absorbed at the bottom of the washer once cycle was "completed." We tried draining the tub, using different cycles, using liquid detergent instead of tabs. It ultimately didn't matter what we tried. After a year of intermittently not effectively washing dishes, there is always detergent left at the bottom. It leaves the dishes unwashed, all soaking wet, and a dirty smell inside. After 4 years, we will be buying a new washer and will never buy Whirlpool products again.

Bought it because it was the "Gold Series ". After using it for a year dishes will not come dry and there is an terrible smell coming from. We have tried everything to clean interior and drain lines but nothing has worked. I would not buy another Whirlpool dishwasher.

I have never written a review like this. This a poor quality product. From day one their was issues with this dishwasher. It never properly cleaned the food off of the plates. The top rack is made of cheap plastic and broke in several places. (Tie wraps are holding it together). I have had multiple service techs out to fix this dishwasher. I have tried every recommendation made by either the service tech or manufacturer and still the dishwasher does not clean. Complete garbage done waste your money..........

This came with the home I purchased in The Villages, FL. It's ok. To me, doesn't do any better than the one I had at my old home that was installed 3-4 years ago. Did the job but not so great with non-presoaked bake ware. As long as I used Jet Dry glasses come out clean. Now the Whirlpool Gold frig. is worst than their dishwasher. I have had problems with that since day one and continuing as of the day.

Has not met our expectations!

We bought our Whirlpool dishwasher 2 1/2 years ago. About a month ago it suddenly stopped working. After the repairman made 3 trips over 4 weeks and $332 it's finally working. The repairman even asked if we wanted him to fix it or just buy a new one!!?? Sadly disappointed that a reputable appliance manufacturer can't build a dishwasher that lasts more than a couple of years. Our last dishwasher was a Maytag that lasted 15 years with never a repair, we only replaced it because it was white and we were replacing all of the other appliances in stainless steel. If this is how long Whirlpool products are expected to last, I'll never buy another one.

From day one this dishwasher did not fry my dishes. The control panel design is awful. Half the buttons stopped workign after only 1 year. the waster pumped broke at two years, the repair person said this is the worst series and he has had to fix many of them. stay away from this product.

Love this dishwasher.. the top rack wash option is economical and so handy when glasses, cups and bowls are all you have to wash..It runs so quietly that you almost don't know it's running -unless you listen for it. Just love the stainless steel inside.. Very happy with this purchase

The motor died on our dishwasher right after one year was up. For the one year it worked, it was amazing. However, when I purchase an expensive dishwasher with a stainless tub, I expect to get 5 years out of it, not one. I can purchase a $200 dishwasher and get one year out of it. I will never purchase another whirlpool.

the electronic control board went out on this appliance in 15 months. The repair was $400. When purchasing a high end dishwasher I would expect it to last longer than a year and 3 months.

The dishwasher seems to get my dishes clean, but the interior racks are not well-designed. My plates, which are normal-sized, hit the sprayer for the top shelf. The silverware holder holes are too small for my silverware and it is hard to get the silverware in and out due to its location.

This dishwasher came with our new house. We specifically upgraded to the gold, with the controls at the top of the door (because we have young children).This dishwasher simply reeks! It has the most fetid odor -- sometimes like fish, sometimes like a port-a-potty on a hot day. It was one of the first things I smelled when I first entered the home.It was installed correctly but the odor always returns. We have tried vinegar rinses, Affresh, Dishwasher Magic, everything. We have tried all different detergents. We even run hot washes, sani-rinse, everything. We run hot water before starting the dishwasher. Not very energy efficient or cost effective to have to do all this extra work/run all this extra water. Also, I worry about how hygenic it is if mildew is the source of the odor.We have had 5 visits from plumbers, all to say that it smells but there is nothing they can do. I was told point blank over the phone by Whirlpool customer service that they won't replace or repair the dishwasher. Yet, we keep getting cards in the mail urging us to extend our warranty.The 18-year-old dishwasher in our old home smelled better. I have never encountered a smelly dishwasher like this.So, in our lovely, brand-new house with an open floorplan, we have this pervasive, disgusting odor. We like our other Whirlpool appliances, but will never buy a Whirlpool dishwasher again.

I bought this product to replace an older unit and have been very pleased. There are a wide array of options and the operation is extremely quiet. We've also been able to fit many more dirty dishes in this than the previous model we have with the same dimensions.

Cleans a really great. The top rack holds pretty tall glasses but the bottom rack seems a little small. It does not hold two of my dinner plates side-by-side which takes more time for organizing

Our old dishwasher was so loud we had to turn up the TV volume in the living room and then the kids would turn up their TV volume in the play room upstairs so they could hear their programs. Madness. Purchased this dishwasher in October 2012 for new construction. Didn't move in and use it until end of November 2012. Stopped working last week. Repairman came out today and said the motor has quit. Seriously??!! Barely over 2 years old and motor has quit!!

It is so quiet! So big! and very stainless steel. The appearance is uniform, a diffent color handle or door frame would break up the monotone nature of the front. If this is what you're looking for, great. I bought it on line, would not have if I saw it in the store.

Performance is great. Dishes are always clean, very quiet. Disappointed in the silverware basket. Too flimsy compared to previous whirlpool dishwasher, difficult to keep the stainless exterior clean also.

We bought this dishwasher a few months ago and love it. The silverware rack in the door leaves extra room in the bottom rack for more dishes. The top rack only wash feature is great when we need to do a small load of necessities. The unit operates really quietly which is so nice since we spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Its sleek look is also a plus. It is easy to wipe down and to operate. With a toddler running around it is great having the controls concealed on the top edge of the door.

I went without a dishwasher for several years just due to NO money. I recently purchased the Whirlpool Dishwasher and my wife and I are so happy with it. It is SO quiet that sometimes you just can't tell if it is on. It washes and dries the silverware and dishes so completely. We are very very happy with this purchase. If you have to pick someone to win the Frig, please make it me. My current is very bad and I need to replace soon.

Upgraded all of our kitchen appliances and this dishwasher was the perfect addition. Easy to install with concise directions. Upon installation the noise level is very low and we generally have to look at the lights on the control to establish whether a cycle is complete. Dishes are crystal clear and the lower level has lots of room for the dishes of a family of 7.

I bought this a couple of months ago and I am mostly pleased. The one feature that was a selling point for my husband was the fact that the utensil rack could be placed on the door; this frees up space for more plates and pots. However, it's difficult to load when the door is flat. Also, you can move it to on the outside of the lower rack, but it doesn't fasten well and falls off easily when loading and unloading utensils. Other than this, it's pretty great. I can fit so many more items and can do so more easily. It has many cleaning options that can also lead to more efficient washing.
