Wanted WOW...but NOT!

I've had this range a week now and wish I'd NOT purchased it based upon the good reviews and not seeing it in person. Storage drawer is very shallow and consistently gets off track and difficult to close and I only have a few pot lids in it. The electronic panel requires you to press rather firmly (in my opinion) your selections and I am already detecting surface changes in the panel for the selections I use most and I am using the lightest touch possible to engage them. I am concerned about how well the electronic panel will look in a few months as well as how long it will function. Range top burners do not set to a consistent cooking temp so that you have to constantly monitor anything you want to simmer for any length of time. No way to adjust the timer, you have to cancel it and reset it. So disappointed... would return if I could.

I purchased this electric "smart" range oven a year ago. We've had two main issues. First, sometimes we can't turn off the oven. Yes, you read that correctly. We have to flip our circuit breaker to turn it off. Second, my husband accidentally dropped a small spice container on the touch control panel. The panel completely shattered and sent chards of glass across our floor. A repairman came out today, charged us $109 and didn't have the new part. Who comes out, charges money, and does nothing? He came out to tell us the part was backordered. It could be weeks or months before we can use our oven again. The little pieces of glass affect the control panel, meaning that yesterday morning the oven turned on by itself. We had to flip the circuit breaker again. In addition, the little chards of glass are absolutely everywhere. We have vacuumed and swept every day. My husband had to go to Urgent Care to have glass removed from his foot. The glass panel should be made not to send tiny pieces everywhere. So, now in addition to the $600 to replace the part. We had to pay a doctor additional money to remove glass from my husbands foot. It's just not worth it. This oven dangerous and I regret purchasing it.

I bought this a month ago. After using the cooktop the first time I noticed what appeared to look like "scuff" marks on both eyes that I used. I bought Affresh wipes but have been unable to get the marks out which diminishes its newness. Otherwise range is good. Looks good in my kitchen!

I waited to complete this review until I had been able to use the appliance extensively (how else can one write an accurate review?). I am a Whirlpool fan and try to buy Whirlpool whenever I have the option. Thus said, this is a more "base" model than what I typically purchase as we are only planning to live in this house (it's a flip) for one year. I love the appearance of the stove. The black stainless is beautiful. It looks SO good with the new kitchen we just completed. The burner heat up fast and you can boil water quickly. I have been very careful not to scratch the front control panel as I had read that this was easy to do (I thoroughly read the reviews from others before purchasing). However, I do have a couple of small scratching that I believe were done by a guest at my house. You just can't slide pans or cookie sheets over the edge of the front of the stove as the panel sticks up higher than the glass top.
I cook (alot), so this stove has been put to the test over the past 7 months since purchasing it. I feel like the oven may run hot as baked items are done much sooner than the recipes read, so I have to always set my timer for a shorter amount of time. But, this is just my guess as I do not have a thermometer in the oven to check it. My oven light just quit working last week. When I hit the "light" button, I hear of beep similar to the timer beep and I'm thinking this is some signal to notify me to change the bulb (at least that's what I'm hoping it is). I tried to figure out how to remove the light to check it out, but I think it will take the strength of my husband to unscrew the light mechanism. I've never replaced an oven light bulb so I'm surprised that this quit working in 7 months. I will contact Whirlpool to check on this.
