When I purchased my newly built condo, this was the standard fridge installed by the developer. Immediately I had problems as it did not make any ice no matter what I did. Within the first year I had a technician out 6 times (under my warranty through the developer). Since then I have had additional problems including extensive frost build up in the freezer causing it to be very noisy, it doesn't keep the right temperature (it gets too warm and food spoils - popsicles come out of the freezer squishy and lettuce goes bad in 2 days) and it still doesn't produce ice. Obviously this fridge is not working, and I understand that happens. What I don't understand is Whirlpool's refusal to stand behind their products. I have a fridge that doesn't perform any of the functions a fridge is meant to perform and it is 2 years old. In the past year since my warranty expired I have called Whirlpool multiple times, the first time was regarding the freezer. I was told I needed to replace the whole central panel of the fridge (not cheap) and while Whirlpool did cover a small portion, that was already $700 out of pocket. Not only that, but the day they installed that is the day the ice maker stopped working again and the fridge temperatures starting becoming very inconsistent. When I called Whirlpool back they refused to acknowledge that the issues were connected and insisted I need to pay out of pocket for another technician. Then, that technician never showed up and customer service indicated that I must have "misunderstood the conversation". Another appointment was setup and the tech actually showed up this time, and said I needed to order even more parts out of pocket and didn't even explain what or why. I was supposed to receive a call in a couple of weeks when the parts were in, but I was not contacted and never received a voicemail. Finally a couple of months later, I called Whirlpool back and they said the tech had closed my file. They don't leave invoices or a contact number for any of the work they do and Whirlpool customer service consistently refuses to connect me with a manager or anyone who can actually help me. I understand that sometimes appliances and technology just may not work, they can't make everything perfectly - but I would expect that a brand like Whirlpool would stand behind their products and make it right for that small percentage of people. All told, I have put about $1000 of my own money into fixing this fridge, and it still doesn't work. I am seriously considering purchasing a new one. The truly unfortunate thing is that I really like the fridge - great features, great size, well laid out, but it just isn't working at all. This has been such a disappointing customer experience and I would caution people regarding large purchases with this brand.

I've had this fridge for less than four years. Although I love everything about it the compressor went out today!!! The repair guy said that most of the time when replacing the compressor it's only a bandaid and it'll need repair again. I'm so disappointed, it was not a cheap fridge and I thought it was a good brand.

Good fridge. Love the French door style and how easy it is to store large things in the refrigerator. After a month of owning the fridge, a couple of the shelves cracked along the edge which was disappointing

Very nice looking, large refrigerator section. Lots of space and flexibility with adjustable shelves.
Freezer seems to have as much space as top/bottom or side by sides, just takes a little getting used to.
Compresser seems louder than my old fridge, alot of people complain about this, but I don't really notice.
The biggest thing with this and any appliance is reliability. Most everybody review products in the first couple days of purchasing and sway the overall rating with 5 stars because there purchase is shinny and new.
I really like this refrigerator, it's designed well and is spacious and has all the functions you need. Right now it gets 5 stars or more, but if it takes a dump on me after a couple years than obviously it gets 0 stars so....

We have had this fridge for 5 years and it now needs over $700 worth of work. We paid a lot for this fridge for it to take that much work in 5 years. I would not buy this fridge or any other fridge from Whirlpool. The repair man said lots of their fridges have switchboard problems like ours and cost a lot to fix.

I stumbled upon this website while looking to try and find a quick "how-to" guide or a YouTube video on how to fix this specific refrigerator. We've had it three years, and started about 6 months ago, the coils in the freezer started freezing up. Because of that, the motor runs harder and eventually the refrigerator portion starts to warm up.
So now every month, like clock work, we have to take everything out, put it in coolers, and manually take a hair dryer to the coils in the freezer to unthaw the coils so that everything will work properly again.
When the freezer coils are unfrozen and everything is working properly, this unit is fantastic. But for the cost, we would have thought it would have worked properly for more than three years. So I'll give it three stars as I sign off, and continue to look for a "how-to" guide on how to replace diagnose and potentially replace one of the components of the defroster system.

We bought ours new, and within 4 years, we sunk over $1300 in repairs. Main control board needed replacing 1 year after warranty expired. Compressor quit the following year, Evap problems, ice maker problems. .....This thing is pure JUNK.

I bought this fridge several years ago and I still love how it looks on the inside. I got that awwwesome moment when we first looked in it so it really sold itself. However, if you have kids even big ones beware of finger prints on the outside which drives me crazy.

I bought this fridge 4 years ago and EVERYTHING on it is broken and we are not hard on appliances. EVERY DRAWER FRONT HAS BROKEN OFF! EVERY DOOR SHELF BOTTOM IS CRACKING! SO MANY ISSUES WITH ICE MAKER WE STOPPED USING IT A YEAR AGO. I really thought I was spending wisely when buying a Whirpool and now, 4 years later..I have to shell out another couple of grand for another fridge. So disappointed!

This refrigerator replaces a four year old one from a Korean mfr. The difference in quality is very apparent. Great lighting, an ice maker that works, leveling legs that don't break, solid feel when shutting the door. Very good choice this time around.

We bought this fridge when we remodeled 3 years ago. Within first year shelves started cracking, ice maker always having issues, veggie bin broken. Second year more of the same and having condensation issues. Leaking water from ice maker and all rusted in ice bin and down through ice maker and getting into the ice. Repair guy said it is a design flaw and we can order a new ice bin but that will only take care of the rust on the bottom of the bin, not all the way down to where the ice/water come out! We can never use the water or ice from the door again. So, it's leaking, rusty, and basically the cheap plastic parts inside the refrigerator are all falling to pieces! We have a whirlpool dishwasher (problems with this unit started in the first year while under warranty) and we have a whirlpool oven. The oven has never cooked things properly or evenly. I have had to alter cooking temps and times on many recipes. My point... we will never buy another whirlpool appliance, EVER!

We have had our refrigerator for about a month and it has been running well. Front panel is working great. We were a little concerned about the size of the ice bin in the door but we have had no problem with it keeping up with our daily use.

When my old fridge refused to keep food cold enough I was compelled to purchase this new model. It was a quick decision with no food in my house but it worked out just fine. The three separate sections seem wise as taking out food is quicker thus preventing loss of cold air. As well there is great versatility in setting up shelves on the door.

Was so excited to get this appliance. The french doors are great, freezer storage superior to many. However, it is very noisy and now after two years it is broken. Won't hold temperature. The repair company came out and said it needed a control panel and fan a week ago and then this morning called to say the part is back ordered for at least two more weeks. Therefore, my food is spoiled and I am really frustrated. When a product is two years old I expect the manufacturer to keep vital parts on hand. I see it as a responsibility to your customers who are keeping you in business. I would have been irritated at the fact it is broken so soon, but i am now incensed at Whirlpool for leaving me with no part or option for a refrigerator after two years other than send this to the curb and spend another 2,000 dollars.

It's only a year and a half old. Second time I have come home from work and everything is thawed out. First time it happened I called and was told it was out of warranty. Any repair would cost. I unplugged it and it worked fine until now. This time I come home and it sounds like a motorcycle is in the house. Second time I've lost about $300 in food. My old kitchen aid that's been dropped and scratched during the move and is currently in the garage in 115 degree heat works better than this. The whirlpool was bought brand new when I remodeled.

Serviced 8 times in one year! I have all records. All fans replaced a couple of times for being defective/loud (can't talk by fridge because of noise). Finally, compressor replaced. All in less than a year. Now I own a fridge with a new compressor that makes noise and is out of the one year warranty. Junk. Whirlpool does not stand behind this lemon of a fridge. Also, first week, shelf cracked from being side by side with another shelf. And the ice maker makes ice slow and holds about 3 cups of ice. Need I say more. I can. When done filling cup with ice from ice maker, it spews 3 more cubes of the floor!!!

I ordered the Replacement filter (W10413645A) for Whirlpool fridge WRF736SDAM. I changed the water filter myself once 6 months after the initial installation. I bought the filters online. But I am now unable to remove the filter from the housing as the filter is stuck. I will not turn the 90 degrees anti-clockwise to allow removal. I am now faced with a service call for over $100 to change the filter. Ridiculous!

We've had to keep our ice maker shut off because the sponge/seal inside the ice maker became dislodged in one corner causing water to leak out. Whenever we turn it on, water either pools and freezes at the bottom of the ice box, or drips through to the dispenser tray and spills on the floor. We've attempted to slide it back in place, but it begins to break apart. Is there an easy way to replace that seal? Suggestions or help is appreciated.

I bought this fridge about 6 months ago and love it! The fridge is so spacious. The shelves are completely adjustable so there is no wasted space. The shelves on the doors are sturdy. My old fridge it was shady putting a gallon of milk on the door. This fridge feels like it was built to last. The freezer drawers are deeper and wider than some of the other brands out there. The display for water and ice on the door looks good and is easy to operate. I love the fresh flow filter in the back of the fridge. When I redo my kitchen this summer I want all whirlpool. Just wish I would have bought black stainless

Like that it is a USA made product, I'm not real happy with the small drawers, it has four, I would have preferred three which would have made them larger, it is hard to get vegetables in them, celery, lettuce, cauliflower etc.

I purchased my refrigerator in 2013 when I remodeled my kitchen. The love the features but apparently the fitting on the water line busted/cracked and when water went into the refrigerator it was running out in my kitchen floor, down to the sub flooring. I have had to replace my laminate flooring in kitchen and dining room because the manufacturer does not make it anymore and the under flooring down to the sub flooring. I contacted whirlpool and because it only has a one year warranty they'd can't not do anything because it cannot be proven that it was because of the refrigerator. A photo of the piece is attached. I am just cautioning purchasers to keep an eye on the piece.

If you value your sanity don't buy this. I can't begin to tell you how bad it is. Ice maker is terrible and we had to replace. The freezer is awful and builds up ice. The condensation drain plugs up and causes water on the floor. The condensation pan is not removable without disassembly. The water fills terribly slow. The freezer trays are so complicated to remove that I almost threw the entire unit into the yard and went and bought a new one. Overall I would only recommend this unit to someone I really don't like. Scratch that- only my worst enemy.

Needed a new refrigerator to replace our 21 year old magic chef side-by-side. A friend has convinced us of the benefits of the French door/lower freezer type. We looked, liked what we saw, and bought. Features are great. I am under no illusions as to how long newer appliances last realizing that nothing lasts as they used to. That being said, we are extremely happy with this new appliance.
